I went to a creek in eastern Ohio yesterday looking for hellbenders - a giant salamander: http://www.hellbenders.org/
It was pretty neat sampling (brute grunt work turning over LARGE slab rocks and hand-grabbing) and we found a large specimen. This was the first documented hellbender in this particular creek since the early 1930s, so quite a discovery. It is estimated at 50-65 years old.
