A Cry for Help

Ali has a case of diaper rash. This kid looks at too much fruit and gets it! Our choice of diaper rash cream is Triple Paste (recommended by the Dr.) Before we used that we used Butt Paste, so now we just call it paste. Yesterday evening Curt was getting her dressed after she took a bath and he said she made a demand as he was putting her diaper on. "Paste, Paste, Hiney Paste, More Paste!" I think that is the longest string of words she has put together yet!

Taking Care of a Baby...

Ali and I have been talking a lot lately about how you take care of a baby. We talk about feeding it, changing it, keeping it warm and giving it lots of kisses and hugs. Today Curt was home since he already worked so hard this week and she showed him how to take care of a baby...
You have to keep it warm...
Give it lots of kisses...

And give it lots of snuggles.

Funny Story & A Proud Moment

Funny Story:
Ali has been obsessed with boogers lately. She likes to point out if she has one or anyone else does. Yesterday I heard her say, "Nittany boogers" and so I looked around to find out where she was and she was picking Nittany's nose for her. Such a thoughtful little girl since Nittany doesn't have fingers! YUCK! Who says Pit Bulls are mean?
Proud Moment:
Today Ali and I ran a bunch of errands this morning. On our way home we got caught by a train. She was getting a bit cranky cause she was very hungry. We were listening to the radio and what do you know but "Beat It" came on. I was singing of course and by the end of the song she was singing "Beat it, Beat it" too!

First Introduction...

Ali P and I went swimming both yesterday and today. Our town has an awesome park system and they have free wading pools (~2 ft) for kiddos to swim in. Yesterday Ali was swimming around and walked about 12 ft from where I was at the edge of the pool to say "Hi!" to a lady sitting on a bench. The lady smiled and said hello back and then Ali pointed at me and said to the lady, "My Mommy!". It was so cute! She has been cracking me up lately with the things she comes up with.

Celebrity Impersonator?

Curt thinks Ali looks like famous fisherman, Jimmy Houston. I can see the resemblance!

Visit from the Hessers

Allison LOVED Monica. They became fast friends and Ali gave Monica more snuggles than she gives Curt and I! Snuggles for Johnathan.

Vrum, Vrum!

They drove here the whole way from Lancaster, PA! They made it here and back safely! Yipee!

Corn on the Cob

Ali enjoyed corn on the cob for the first time this past Thursday evening. She loved it! Poor form, but it is getting the job done!

Pretty good for a first timer!

Hellbender

I went to a creek in eastern Ohio yesterday looking for hellbenders - a giant salamander: http://www.hellbenders.org/

It was pretty neat sampling (brute grunt work turning over LARGE slab rocks and hand-grabbing) and we found a large specimen. This was the first documented hellbender in this particular creek since the early 1930s, so quite a discovery. It is estimated at 50-65 years old.
