Smallmouth Bass - Little Beaver Creek
Here is a 19.5 inch smallmouth bass sampled on Little Beaver Creek (within about 3/4 miles of it's junction with the Ohio River) the night of 9/16/08. This is a remarkable size for a stream system and this fish is likely 9-12 years old.

Paddlefish on the Ohio River
Here is an example of a paddlefish. This fish is fairly rare in the upper Ohio River. This fish was collected during the night of 9/15/08 near New Cumberland Lock and Dam on the Ohio River. This fish is 47" long from the tip of the tail to the tip of the rostrum (bill). This fish feeds exclusively on zooplankton (tiny organisms) by filter feeding and it is one of the two fishes from which freshwater caviar come from.

A Sophisticated Palate
I am not a short order cook. Ali eats what we eat for dinner each night. Unless it is too hard for her to eat (soup) then she eats what I fix or she doesn't eat. Sounds harsh, but it is good I think. Tonight she enjoyed salmon that Curt grilled, rice pilaf, green beans and garden tomato in slices. She tanked. She calls all meat chicken so that is what she called the salmon, but she ate it. She especially loved the tomato. I say she ate 2 full slices herself. Grandpa Wagner would be proud!

Bianca!
This is Ali and Grandma. They are the best of buddies. When pulling into Grandma and Grandpa's house on Friday night Ali started yelling, "Bianca, Bianca"! Curt and I couldn't figure out what she was saying and finally deduced with some questions and repeating that she is calling Grandma and Grandpa both Bianca. I don't know the connection but is sure is cute!
