Happy (belated) Birthday Sawyer!

Sawyer turned 3 this past week. He had a wonderful birthday! He was able to celebrate with some family that came into town and received lots of fun gifts. Sawyer is VERY into tractors right now. He is addicted to gum..."fruit gum" is his favorite and he would chew it all day everyday if we let him. He is go go go all the time. He turns into a very tender soul at night if he wakes up to go potty or if he is scared or sick. He is funny and gross and wonderful. He has mastered the potty even at night. His favorite food is pizza and he isn't a big fan of chocolate (just like his daddy). He is the total package...cute, funny, tender yet tough and oh those dimples. We love you so much Sawyer. You are our special dude and we are so thankful that God gave you to us.

Happy Birthday to my Ali P! We love her more than we knew was possible and think she is the coolest girl we know. Ali loves school and is doing very well. Her teachers are impressed by her kindness and sweet nature. She loves to "read" books. Barbies, princesses and cooking are some of her favorite activities right now. She enjoys swimming and dancing. Listening to her pray can melt your heart and she is retaining lots of Bible stories. She requested "the one when they cut the baby in half" the other day. God is Good All the Time...Especially Today

This is a phrase that I can remember Curt and my church pastor at Penn State saying all the time. It is so true. Ali had a followup EEG today to see how she is doing since she has been 2 years seizure free. She has been on meds and we have had no issues so we were really excited to see what the EEG would tell us. Bottom line is that she is doing significantly better! She no longer is having microbursts during awake time, only when she is asleep! Our neurologist told us that this is great improvement and that she feels really good about Ali growing out of the epilepsy eventually! She has always told us she may grow out of it, but never said that she feels one way or another in regards to Ali. This is huge! The game plan for now is to wait another year and repeat the EEG to see if the microbursts keep decreasing or are not present at all! Thanks for your prayers! Continue to pray for healing and praise the Lord of the Universe for working a miracle in my sweet Ali!

PA Done Up Right!

We had a wonderful weekend in PA this past week. We went to Lancaster, PA to see some college buddies. What a blast. I didn't take any pictures while we were there cause we were having so much fun! The kids loved the farm and playing with the baby. It was a great time seeing friends and just having fun. On a whim we decided to stop at Penn State on the way home. In the 3.5 hours we were there we ate at our favorite PSU restaurant, went to the SBS for PSU apparel, walked around campus and went to the creamery for the worlds best ice cream. Ben & Jerry went there to learn how to make ice cream, just so you know. I think we have the kids convinced they want to be Nittany Lions!!! Now for the out of state tuition aspect.

Our staycation with the Kleinmans from MN was AWESOME! We had 9 people in the house and it worked out wonderfully. We wore the kids out each day with lots of fun activities. In 4 days time we went swimming at the Nat, the Dads had a full fishing day, the Moms had a full shopping day, the kids went to multiple parks, the zoo, rocking on the river, fountains, Pump It Up, fishing, touch a truck and out for ice cream. Oh and the girls had a slumber party every night in Ali's room. We are so grateful for our friends traveling to us. Next time we are going to MN. More pictures to come.

Ali got an Atomic Warhead in her goodie bag from school today. It was from one of the other kids in her class. If you have ever had one you know how insanely sour they are. Worst Vacation Ever

Ali is on Spring Break this week so I decided to take the kids back to PA for a little so we could visit family. My main reason for going was to go to DC to see my brother. Well we had a great car ride there, no melt downs, great traffic etc. When we got to my in-laws house I had to change the kids clothes cause we did have a battle with a cheeseburger and the cheeseburger won. When I was helping Ali get undress I noticed she seemed warm so I took her temp. Fever. Oh you can't be serious! As the day/night went on she barfed, was miserable and had a temp as high as 104.3 degrees. I slept on the floor beside her bed so I could keep an eye on her. 2 days later she is great. Recovered it seems. In the mean time I have to cancel seeing Mitch. Then we think things are good to go and we head over to my Mom and Dad's house. That night...you guessed it...Sawyer is running a temp. The next day we made the trip back here to we could be sick here and try not to get anyone at home sick. We made it home, nobody barfed in the car and everyone is ok today. We did leave a victum at home though. My Mom managed to get the flu from the kids. Sorry Mom. I loved seeing family, but this goes in the books for the Worst "Vacation" so far.

60 Degree & The Zoo = Awesome Afternoon!

Since yesterday was awesome we met some friends at the zoo for an afternoon of checking out animals and enjoying the amazing 60 degree day. It was wonderful! Above the kids are checking out the snow leopard. I love this zoo cause the animals stay near the front of the glass and it is so easy to get a really great close up look.

The tiger was so close the to glass that we didn't see it at first.

In the farm animal section of the zoo the kids were petting the goats. On a side note as the kids and I were approaching the entrance to the zoo Sawyer was yelling..."The animals are going to bite my fingers off!" and Ali replied..."No Buddy they are in cages.". Cute!!!

What a great day at the zoo!!! If you are a friend (yeah we have a couple) who is coming to "Camp Wagner" this summer and you have a kid or 4...this is a great Akron attraction for us!!!

This is Ali with her preschool class. These little munchkins raised $205.39 for the "Have a Heart, Do Your Part" fundraiser for Akron Children's Hospital. I had the time of my LIFE on Saturday night. My friend Gretchen and I went up the Cleveland to the House of Blues for a Micheal Jackson tribute band show. Neither one of us really new what to expect. The band was AMAZING! Very talented. There were 2 MJs. One was much better than the other, but the "good" MJ needed time to rest and change outfits so he matched the time period from which he was singing. The venue was much smaller than I imagined, which was great. As you can see from the picture we managed to squeeze our way up front. Seriously I had a total blast of an evening. Not trying to trump Sara's "Santa Came" Entry...been meaning to post this for the past week or so but kept putting it off. Shot a small deer Sat. Dec. 18, around 10 am, on Salt Fork Wildlife Area. Stayed at a camp adjacent to state property - cabin is owned by one of my buddy's buddy. Won't mention name here, but I'm grateful for his warm hospitality. It was an enjoyable trip.

A predicted 5-F overnight temp necessitated that we process the deer, at least partially, Saturday evening otherwise the meat would have frozen solid on the carcass overnight. I decided last year that I needed to learn to process deer myself to really make harvesting a deer economically superior over store meat prices. We decided to de-bone the meat that evening, bag it in freezer zip-lok bags, ans store in a cooler to prevent freezing and keep a constant (more-or-less) temp. Sara, Kenny, and I then trimmed, ground, and packaged the meat Tuesday evening in our kitchen - thanks for loaning the grinder Kenny!

Some might find these pics a bit squeamish, but if you think the meat you eat 'comes' from the grocery store cooler or freezer, think again. Hope you find it interesting. First step is skinning the deer. Notice the thickness of the hide and the thick layer of fat between the hide and meat - ready for winter!

Next, you cut the major muscle groups off the bone. This is easiest when it is hanging whole, not quartered. Here I'm cutting out the back-straps, or tenderloin. This is the same piece of meat as a pork tenderloin. These make steak medallions as tender as beef fillet-Mignon.

Ahh...the end product that night at camp. Only a small amount of this was actually my deer that evening. The rest was mostly moose.

Santa visited Ali and Sawyer! They were very good kids this year. Santa must have found the keys that we left in the mailbox for him. We don't have a chimney so we didn't want him to have to break in. We also left him about 8 cookies and a salad for the reindeer.

My little bean turned 4 today December 7th! She had her first "real" birthday party this year. It was this past Friday. She had lots of fun with her Sunday school friends. They played, ate and had a blast. I am so thankful for wonderful friends that were willing to give up their Friday afternoon to bring their kids over for the party. I love my sweet Ali and am so thankful for the gift of her life. She is AWESOME!!!

I made this canopy for Ali. I wanted to make something to jazz up a book shelf that I found on the side of the road. I think Curt wanted to pull his hair out when I asked him to get it for me. It all worked out though and Ali loves it.

While we were all home for the weekend, Nanny (Sara's Mom) took Ali to a Princess for a day party at Shippensburg U put on by the sororities on campus. Both Ali and Nanny had a great time! Thanks Nanny Regular!!!
